Notes on the light
Hidden Oaks sits on its own private grounds in Ramona, oak-studded and genuinely open, built specifically to host a wedding rather than converted for one. The golden hour here runs long and low across the open field, and it is some of the most flattering natural light we film in San Diego County.
The spaces, and how they film
The Open Field. Wide open grounds under scattered oaks, ideal for a ceremony that wants nothing but sky and trees behind it. The low late-afternoon light here is the property's biggest asset.
The Reception Grounds. String lights strung across the open lawn carry the evening once the sun goes down, rustic without being fussy about it.
The film, so far
We have made one film here so far: Ally & James, an easy, unhurried day that closed with a kiss caught right in the last of the golden light.
Filming here
Because the property is genuinely open rather than tree-covered, we build the ceremony and portrait timeline around the last hour of light rather than midday, when the field can run hot and flat. A late-afternoon ceremony gets you the property at its best.
