Notes on filming the Riviera
Santa Barbara is the rare California coastline that faces south, which changes everything about a wedding film here. The sun crosses in front of the water instead of setting behind your back, so the ocean stays lit all day and the evening light lands on faces, not silhouettes. Add the red tile, the white walls, and the mountains standing close behind town, and you have a place that films like the Mediterranean without the flight.
This is the top of our home range, and some of our favorite light in the state lives here.
Over the hill: Ojai
Twenty minutes over the ridge sits the Ojai valley, and our film from Ojai Valley Inn: Max & Lauren, married at The Farmhouse beneath a hundred-year-old oak. The valley ends its days with what locals call the pink moment, a few minutes after sunset when the Topatopa Mountains flush rose. We plan whole timelines around it.
The full archive lives at venues we know by heart.
