Peter and Julya were married at SkyPark Weddings at Santa's Village, in the pines at Skyforest, about a mile from Lake Arrowhead. The frame that opens this page has the two of them forehead to forehead in front of a rough stone arch, warm light holding on her braided updo.

SkyPark sits on 230 acres of forest, and it reopened in 2016 on the ground the original Santa's Village occupied from 1955. That history is useful to a camera. There is old timber and rough stone here standing next to things built recently, and the older surfaces hold their shape when everything else in frame is moving. Nearly everything else is branches. If you want a locked-off frame that does not wander, find stone. And for portraits, walk away from the terrace rather than hunting a view. The material worth having up here is close and textural, not wide.

Will we notice you during the day?
Barely. We film the day as it happens rather than staging it, staying close but out of the way. Most couples tell us afterwards that they forgot anyone was filming.
