Notes on the light
InterContinental San Diego sits right on the downtown waterfront, with San Diego Bay and the harbor skyline as a constant backdrop. It is one of the more genuinely photogenic modern hotels we film in Southern California, floor-to-ceiling glass that keeps the bay in frame for almost every reception shot.
The spaces, and how they film
The Bay-View Ballrooms. Modern event spaces with glass walls facing the water, so the harbor skyline and passing boats become part of the reception backdrop rather than something you have to seek out.
The Waterfront Promenade. A public walkway right along the bay gives us a strong option for portraits, with the USS Midway and downtown skyline visible depending on the angle.
The film, so far
We have made one film here so far: Brian & Andrea, a quiet altar moment before a reception that carried the bay skyline through the whole night.
Filming here
Because the ballrooms face the water, we plan reception coverage around when the sun actually sets over the bay rather than a generic sunset time, since the skyline lighting up at dusk is one of the best visual beats the property offers.
