Notes on the light
Tiato is a kitchen by day and a private event venue by evening and on weekends, and it bills its garden as the largest outdoor event space in Santa Monica outside the hotels. The courtyard is planted with trees and herbs, and in our film the ceremony stood under a broad old tree. The courtyard falls into shade before sunset, so the last warm light is out on the streets nearby.
The spaces, and how they film
The Garden. The courtyard for the ceremony and, on a warm night, dinner. It seats one hundred and thirty-two, or three hundred and fifty standing, with string lights strung overhead once it gets dark.
The Main Dining Room. The indoor room beside the garden, seating one hundred and forty. One layout the venue shows puts the ceremony indoors and the reception outside.
The film, so far
Andrea & Gene were married under the courtyard tree, and their film follows them out into the streets at golden hour.
Filming here
The garden sits in the middle of a working neighborhood. We scout the nearby streets before the day and time portraits to the last half hour of sun.
