01The Day

The way it felt.

They climbed the estate's famous stone staircase hand in hand, ivy and mature trees crowding the balustrade on both sides, before a Jewish ceremony under a floral chuppah with a stone wall standing behind them.

It is a property with real history built into every corner, and we filmed it the way we always do here, letting the ruins and the greenery do the work rather than adding anything on top of what was already there.

02Filming at The Houdini Estate

On The Houdini Estate.

The Houdini Estate sits in Laurel Canyon, the ruins of what was once said to be magician Harry Houdini's Los Angeles property, an event space built around stone staircases, ivy-covered walls, and terraced gardens climbing the hillside. It is one of the most storied and visually distinct properties we have filmed a wedding at in Los Angeles. Worth knowing before you fall for it: the estate is currently closed for renovation and is not taking bookings, tours or events.
