Jonathan and April were married at San Moritz Lodge, on the southeast shore of Lake Gregory in Crestline. The frame we chose for the poster is the two of them walking away hand in hand through tall pines toward the water, low sun coming through the trunks in bars. It is the shot this property gives you if you time the afternoon correctly.
The film runs six minutes and fifty-five seconds. Any wedding at altitude gets planned the same way: light first, then sound, then stay out of the way.
Notes on the place.
Two color problems live here and they pull in opposite directions. The interior is timber and firelight, so it runs warm. The pine shade outside runs cold and slightly green. Set two looks before the day begins rather than chasing white balance shot to shot. The shoreline sits a short walk from the lodge doors, and that is where low sun does its best work, though the window is short because the western ridge takes the sun early. Wind off the lake is worth planning outdoor audio around.
