01The Day

After the vines.

Keshiia and Kevin were married at Milagro Farm Winery, out in the hills of Ramona in San Diego County, well inland from the coast and far enough out that the sky goes properly dark after dinner.

The film leans on the evening. Once the sun is off the vines the property turns to lamplight and string light, and the last third of their day plays out warm and close and unhurried.

Notes on the light.

Milagro sits in the Ramona valley, which is inland San Diego County: hotter through the middle of the day than the coast and considerably darker at night, because there is very little ambient light out there to lift the shadows. That combination shapes how we shoot a wedding here. We keep the daytime coverage in the shade of the oaks and the barrel room, and we plan the reception around the property's own lighting, because once the sun is gone the string lights are genuinely all you have.
