01The Day

Above the harbor.

Tyler and Rachel were married at The Portofino Hotel & Marina, out on the peninsula at King Harbor in Redondo Beach. The frame we kept as the poster is the two of them on the pale concrete seawall above the water, the rock breakwater and the moored boats stacked up behind them, and the low late sun coming in across the water behind them.

The film runs just under four minutes, and that is deliberate. A harbor hands you a small number of very strong images and a lot of repetition. What is worth keeping is narrow: water, wind, faces, and the quiet in between.

02Filming at The Portofino Hotel & Marina

Notes on the place.

The Portofino has been on this peninsula since 1962, when it opened as the Portofino Inn, and the property still behaves like a working harbor rather than a resort that happens to face water. Boats come and go. Rigging knocks against masts. That is not a problem to solve, it is the sound of the place, and we record it rather than fight it. The one thing worth protecting is the walk. The seawall and dock frames sit away from the ballrooms, and on a day that has already slipped, those minutes are the first thing anyone offers to cut.

QWedding Film & Video, Answered
Do you film weddings at The Portofino Hotel & Marina?

Yes. Tyler and Rachel's wedding film was made there, and you can watch it on this site. Having filmed a place once means we already know how it behaves through the day rather than working it out on the morning.

How much does a wedding videographer cost?

Our collections run from $6,000 for The Moment to $10,000 for The Legacy, our most complete collection. Each one is a full cinematic wedding film of your day plus a custom wedding website. Everything is set out on our Collections page.

When do we get our wedding film?

About 8 to 12 weeks for the full film. The Portrait and The Legacy also include a shorter teaser, delivered sooner, so you have something to share while the main edit is still running.

Will we notice you during the day?

Barely. We film the day as it happens rather than staging it, staying close but out of the way. Most couples tell us afterwards that they forgot anyone was filming.
