Notes on the light
The Casino is a white Spanish Colonial landmark, and white walls are a gift to a film. They bounce soft light into the courtyard all afternoon, they hold the string lights after dark, and from the air the dome and red tile roof sit inside a ring of palms with the San Clemente coastline running behind. Few Orange County venues change character this completely from morning to midnight.
The spaces, and how they film
The Rock Garden and courtyard. The outdoor ceremony space, walled in white with market lights strung overhead. Vows happen inside real architecture rather than in front of a rented arch, and the enclosure keeps the sound of the town out of the recording.
The Grand Ballroom. The domed 1937 ballroom takes the reception after dark. Uplight the walls and the whole room carries the color; it is the rare coastal venue with a true indoor finish.
The coast. Two blocks down the hill are the beach grasses, the pier line and the rail crossing. Portraits get an entirely different world without a drive.
The film, so far
We have made one film here so far: Eric & Esther, courtyard vows under the string lights, portraits in the coastal grasses and a full ballroom to end the night.
Filming here
We plan the Casino as three films in one day: the courtyard in the afternoon, the coast for portraits, the ballroom after dark. The ten o'clock outdoor stop matters less here than at most outdoor venues because the night simply moves inside the dome, and the film keeps going.

Can you still bring your own caterer to the Casino?+
No, that era is over. Jay's Catering Hospitality Group bought the venue in April 2026 and is the exclusive caterer now. Older articles describing outside catering are out of date.
How late can a Casino San Clemente wedding run?+
Outdoors ends at ten. The venue's own pages state indoor events to midnight in one place and dancing to one in the morning in another, so get your end time in writing.
Do you film in San Clemente and south Orange County often?+
Yes. The south county coast is home ground for us, and we know where the light lands from the pier to the hills.

Planning notes, and the fine print

Read nothing about this venue written before April 2026 without checking it, because the Casino changed hands. Jay's Catering Hospitality Group owns and runs it now, and the new operation publishes more real numbers than most venues ever do.
- New ownership
- Jay's Catering Hospitality Group announced the acquisition in April 2026 and runs the venue directly; the official site is now thecasinosc.com. Their stated intent is to preserve the building rather than remake it.
- Catering
- Exclusively in-house through Jay's. The venue's long-standing reputation for bring-your-own catering is finished; outside food is limited to approved desserts and late-night items, with a three-dollar-per-person cake-cutting fee and a two-dollar-per-person outside-vendor fee.
- Site fee
- Published, which is rare: seven thousand for a Friday, eight thousand five hundred for a Saturday, six thousand for a Sunday, year round. The venue also publishes that most weddings land between twenty-seven and thirty-one thousand all in.
- Capacity
- Two hundred fifty seated or four hundred cocktail-style across the venue, by its own figures. A ballroom-only figure of three hundred circulates on listing sites; treat that one as third-party.
- Hours
- Outdoors ends at ten. Indoors, the venue's own pages disagree, midnight on the wedding page and one in the morning on the FAQ, so put yours in the contract. Receptions cap at six hours.
- House rules
- Candles only in enclosed glass. No sparklers, no fog machines. Your planner must come from the venue's partner list, and pets may attend the ceremony only.
- What the early outdoor stop means for the film
- The ten o'clock outdoor cutoff costs this venue nothing on camera, because the night moves into the domed ballroom and the film moves with it. We treat the courtyard, the coast and the ballroom as three separate films and cut them into one day.
