Notes on the light
The Los Angeles Athletic Club is a historic downtown institution, founded in the 1880s, and its interior rooms carry real architectural weight. Carved wood screens, dark paneling, and a sense of occasion that is difficult to manufacture in a newer venue make it one of the more distinctive indoor ceremony spaces we film anywhere in the city.
The spaces, and how they film
The Historic Clubrooms. Ornate carved lattice screens and dark wood paneling give these rooms a warm, low-light character, more like a private library than a typical event space.
The Grand Interior. A century of downtown Los Angeles history is genuinely visible in the architecture, which gives a wedding film here real texture without needing much added styling.
The film, so far
We have made one film here so far: Bulent & Jessica, a ceremony held inside one of the club's ornate historic rooms.
Filming here
Because the interiors run warm and low-lit by design, we shoot with fast lenses and expose for the room's own lighting rather than adding harsh supplemental light, which keeps the historic character intact on camera exactly the way it looks in person.
