01The Day

Down to the rocks.

Nic and Sophie were married at Montage Laguna Beach. The frame this film is held on has the two of them hand in hand on dark wet rock at the tide line, surf breaking behind them, the bluff rising on the left. Getting to the water at all here means the ramp down from the resort, and standing on that rock means a tide low enough to allow it.

The film runs six minutes and six seconds. Watch it with sound.

02Filming at Montage Laguna Beach

Notes on the place.

Two things govern a shoot here and neither is on the floor plan. The first is the ramp. Everything below the lawns has to be carried down and carried back, so we work light at the water: one body, one lens, nothing on legs. The second is the horizon. The lawns face open ocean, so the sun sits behind anyone facing the water, and in the last hour of the day the margin between a face and a silhouette is narrow. You choose which one you are making before you roll, not in the grade afterwards.

QWedding Film & Video, Answered
Do you film weddings at Montage Laguna Beach?

Yes. Nic and Sophie's wedding film was made there, and you can watch it on this site. Having filmed a place once means we already know how it behaves through the day rather than working it out on the morning.

How much does a wedding videographer cost?

Our collections run from $6,000 for The Moment to $10,000 for The Legacy, our most complete collection. Each one is a full cinematic wedding film of your day plus a custom wedding website. Everything is set out on our Collections page.

When do we get our wedding film?

About 8 to 12 weeks for the full film. The Portrait and The Legacy also include a shorter teaser, delivered sooner, so you have something to share while the main edit is still running.

Will we notice you during the day?

Barely. We film the day as it happens rather than staging it, staying close but out of the way. Most couples tell us afterwards that they forgot anyone was filming.
