Peter and Julya were married at Castle in the Forest, in the pines at Skyforest, about a mile from Lake Arrowhead. The frame that opens this page has the two of them forehead to forehead in front of a rough stone arch, warm light holding on her braided updo.

Notes on the place.
Castle in the Forest is a chateau of some ten thousand square feet, set in a canyon near Lake Arrowhead with conifer pine and dogwood coming right up to the walls. The trees decide more about a film here than anything inside the building does. Pine canopy will not give you a wash, it gives you edges, and the edges land on faces. The work outside is finding clean shade and letting the bright patches fall behind your couple rather than across them. Indoors the place is lit by the forest rather than by lamps, because cathedral ceilings and floor to ceiling windows mean the interior light moves with the weather outside. That is generous on an even day and unforgiving on a bright one. The stone is what holds a frame together up here. Nearly everything else is branches, and branches move. The still at the top of this page is that idea exactly, two people against rough stone with the forest going soft behind them.
