Wrought iron, bougainvillea, and the estate at its most Spanish. Sound on.

01The Day

Two estates.

Ryan and Cynthia were married at Hummingbird Nest Ranch, and their portraits were made at the ironwork gates where the bougainvillea comes over the wall and the agave is planted hard against the steps.

That corner of the estate looks nothing like the open hillside a few minutes away, which is the argument for using both in one film.

Notes on the place.

Hummingbird Nest effectively gives you two different locations. The formal side is Spanish colonial: ironwork, arches, bougainvillea, terracotta, all of it planted and deliberate. The other side is bare California hillside with nothing on it. A film that uses only one of them is leaving half the property unused, and the walk between them takes under five minutes. We build the portrait plan to hit both, formal first while the sun is still high, open ground once it drops.
