Kyle & Ava
An island an hour offshore, and a harbor town underneath us. Sound on.

Everyone comes by boat.
Kyle and Ava were married on Catalina Island, and their portraits were made on the hillside above Avalon with the whole town and its harbor laid out below.
Getting married on Catalina means everyone arrives by boat, which changes the shape of a wedding day more than people expect. It compresses everything and it makes the whole weekend feel like one event rather than a few hours in the middle of a Saturday.
Notes on the light.
Filming on Catalina is a logistics problem before it is a creative one. Everything crosses on the ferry, which means gear is limited to what can be carried and there is no going back for anything. We plan a smaller, more deliberate kit for island weddings and we build the timeline around boat schedules rather than sunset alone. What you get in return is a backdrop nowhere on the mainland can offer: a Mediterranean-looking harbor town stacked up a hillside, and water in almost every frame.
