Melvin & An
Pale hills, a veil in the wind, and not much else in frame. Sound on.

01The Day
Let it blow.
Melvin and An were married at Hummingbird Nest Ranch, and their portraits were made out on the bare hillside where the grass has gone the color of the dust.
Wind is a constant out there and it is usually a problem. On this day it was the best thing in the frame.
02Filming at Hummingbird Nest Ranch
Notes on the place.
Everyone treats wind as an enemy at a wedding, and for audio it is. For picture it is often the opposite. A veil that lifts, hair that moves, a dress that fills, all of it gives a still frame motion that no amount of direction can fake. The rule we work to at Hummingbird is simple: solve the wind at the microphone, then go and use it in front of the lens rather than hiding from it.
